Pixelization Group Task Final Session and Introduction to Laws of Space and Time

Monday 6th October 2014

Session Review

Well it would seem our third team member of the film certainly came through and aided Matthew in shooting the final night prop scenes outside the Worcester Hive library. The start for the lesson was unexpected since I had met another classmate waiting outside our usual classroom EE1021 and we were deeply confused as to where the tutor Rob and the rest of the class were hiding.
Fortunately, we were directed to the right room after meeting with Rob and him leading us to a recording studio so we could start a rather unorthodox session. The tutor firstly introduced the session by watching the classes group pixilation videos. I had asked Matthew if I had edited all of the shots the group had taken and thankfully good old Matthew edited the clips rather smoothly as the rest of the Class and I applauded at once it was displayed along with the rest of the classes videos.

Moreover, as the class shared a laugh and reviewed the short films until the break. The class and I had returned to start a brief analysis of animation such as considering the concept of space and time in our videos and future projects. Rob proceeded to show a visual example of space-time and depth and the one that was the most familiar was the opening to James Bonds Skyfall (2012). I noticed how the camera view had made the audience or view feel as if they were constantly travelling forward while everything around them shifted from a new scene to new surreal scene.

Once the class become inducted in the ways of the moving image, Rob gave us a true challenge to test some of the class new-found knowledge. As usual when he proclaimed we would be drawing sketches of his partner from a 360 view going around 16 chairs like musical chairs. The task itself was definitely challenging at first I suppose because it was a shock to drawing live on-demand sketches instead of drawing sketches and final concepts for some time since college. But I truly enjoyed because my sketches were simply basic drawings of the body shapes. For example, there was not any fine detail such as hair, cloths, or human features just the 3d shapes that made a human.
