Pixelization Group Task Session 3

Thursday 2nd October 2014

Session Review

Today's session went proceeded better than I had originally predicted. Surprisingly Kate the third member of our group had arrived to meet us in the digital arts centre and she has explained that she was feeling unwell and was apparently not able to help Matthew and I in the actual photography process although Kate had contributed to the group by creating some of our props for the film. Props such as the text message, letterbox and the teardrops that would go down Matthews's face during the final shots of the story.

Once we said goodbye to Kate, Matthew and I had preceded to write down and create a plan on an a4 sheet of paper that listed down the series of events and camera angles that we were going to film. Before the actual shooting began we walked around the campus looking for the right locations to take most of the shots and walked down the main road that leads to the Sabrina bridge. We also had to play around with the camera for half an hour and learn how to operate it.

The first couple of photos we took were of dandelion and we were practising how to focus on it and get a clear view then I focused on the dandelion as Matt walked by only showing his feet in the background which was the introductory scene for the story. following from that we had finally moved further into the story by making the character walking by in the park along coming closer to the bridge and this time we have a wide shot of Matthew displaying the entire character this time so we can see the emotion on his face and body behaviour before he receives the tragic text message.

Eventually, after a long day of shooting, we returned back to the digital arts centre on campus since the battery for the Nikon camera was running low on power. After grabbing a hot chocolate and gathering our strength after walking around with the equipment which I had to carry by the way. We decided to continue shooting tomorrow after Matt s morning session on Friday however he had mentioned how he had a friend to help him possibly shoot the evening shots since I had to travel back to Birmingham and was unable to aid him, so hopefully, his friend comes through on her promise?
