Session Review
Today's session went fairly well because after the lesson I managed to
acquire one of my group members Matthew's phone number then was able to remind
him to come in today in the digital arts centre so we can continue our planning
stages; however, the other group member who volunteered to create the story the board did not show up so we assume she has created a storyboard or had at
least planned out some of the key scenes since she has also agreed to be one of
the directors.
Furthermore, once I had edited some other pieces of work out of the way.
Matthew and I continued to write down some more additional ideas that we could
use to improve and further develop our short film because Matthew had pointed
out a valid suggestion stating that the story of the character receiving tragic
news and then walking home would look to visually basic, So he thought of using
the change from day to night to show the characters' emotions growing darker
with the sky which our tutor Rob who had come by was also impressed with this
idea.
Thankfully these production logs have proven useful yet tedious because
Matthew said he had forgotten the majority of what we had created and discussed
yesterday’s session and I assume so has the other group member so thankfully
these logs can be referred to in case we ever need reminding.

Pixelization Group Task Session 1
Monday 29th September 2014
Session Review
This session today we were given a brief history of the moving image and my academic tutor Rob Tovey mentioned some of animations pioneers and early forefathers dating back to ancient Egypt and Greece. After a few important alerts such as deciding our class representatives and another recap about taking equipment form the tech team and we were given a brief demonstration of how to appropriately set up a tripod and video camera and were warned first and about the dangers of the tripod in public and what happens if any of the class damage equipment which would result in us being sued and paying a substantial amount of cash. The tutor then proceeded to show uis some video examples of pixilation and then the class and I were placed into groups of three and chose a keyword that would be the theme for our video by random.
The keyword was "Loss" which it did seem challenging to portray in a visually photographic frame by frame animation; nonetheless, after the group had worked our brains concocting concepts for our video I suggested an idea where the character in our video has a series of unfortunate events that eventually, lead to the loss of his sanity. Rob the tutor came by and liked the concept which reinforced our confidence in the idea and soon began to further develop it by planning the stages of the video where the character would receive a text message on his phone stating "She’s gone I'm sorry", this message would cause the character to go in a state of panic changing his calm walking into quick power strides. I also suggested using an analogue clock that would tick in a linear fashion to show the character racing against time to get home and the linear ticking his linear sane strain of mind however he would soon snap and the clock hands would spin out of control then going to a close up of the characters face showing a blank emotionless expression showing his mind has finally snapped and thus losing his sanity.
Interestingly, one of our group members Kate mentioned to Rob she thought of filming this in the noir sin city artistic style, however, this would be over stretching our novice skills and Rob suggested instead of filming the video in the dark using one light to capture that noir style. Therefore, if we were to film this in the dark at night outside the city or around campus then I would have to check the train and first bus times because If I cannot make it back to Birmingham I may need to look at some emergency accommodation or see if Worcester has any nearby hotels for the night.

Crafting the Digital Image Introduction
Monday 22nd September 2014
Introductory Session Review
Today the rest of the creative digital media class and I were introduced to the basic fundamentals of what we will be doing the rest of the first year and then proceeded to watch and analyse different styles of animation used in various media from TV to films. The majority of the animation styles I recognised back from what I learned and saw in my college Computer Games Design course, however, there were a few that was new to me which was good to see. Though the task where we had to draw a small flipbook animation based on a keyword given could have gone better, since I planned to make that small ball on the top page shift and stretch into an oval-shaped screaming character to express their fear although each frame took far too long it is a nice reminder in a way to know just how much a pain hand-drawn and animation, in general, can be.
Henceforth, it is pleasing to know that this subject will be assessed through the completion of tasks which is an excellent way for us to slowly get all of the introductory work done and dusted. Also, those people who were expected to show up for the first lesson on Tuesday finally showed up today in the class. It will be interesting to how this year and this module progress this should expand my knowledge and refine my basic skills in animation.
